Can you think of people who are in a bad place in life, yet they keep trying to make it work? Things are slowly getting worse, and it’s hard to watch a friend stick to his guns and go down with the ship. Maybe your friends are thinking this right now, about you.
The problem is things aren’t quite bad enough to fix. Nothing is forcing you to change and grow. Sadly, things will get worse before they get better.
So you remain in a slow downward spiral, unaware, while those who love you watch, worry, and pray for something — anything — to get your attention.
I bring it up because I know it well. It is no small miracle I received a four-year degree. I was in the slow downward spiral, oblivious to everyone trying to help me out of it.
Do yourself a favor and learn from my mistakes, sins, and arrogance.
Examine your blind spots to discover what you have been missing. The one thing which could set you free if you confront it.
What is the blunder you’re unwilling to admit to yourself? What is the fault you refuse to get help with? What is the awful deed you need to confess before you go crazy?
Here’s hoping you will open your eyes and fix things before they get worse.
But until you start growing, here’s hoping you hit rock bottom sooner, to save those around you some pain. Remember, it’s not about you.
Be brave. Ask a trusted friend to point out your biggest flaw. Then own up to it and ask for help.
