Enough being blown about by the wind. Enough griping and complaining and blaming. Enough cowering in the corner, too afraid to fulfill your role in this life. Enough victim mentality.
It’s time to be proactive. It’s time to set your sails. No more reacting when you can respond with a good attitude.
It’s time to take ownership of your response, regardless of the stimulus.
While reading The 8th Habit today, I was floored by the depth of a quote and had to share it.
One ship drives east and another drives west
With the self same winds that blow.
‘Tis the set of the sails,
And not the gales,
That tells us the way to go.Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate;
As we voyage along through life,
‘Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm, or the strife.
— Ella Wheeler Wilcox
I would like to say something to follow this quote, but I can’t follow such powerful words! Instead, I’ll just let you enjoy it once more.
One ship drives east and another drives west
With the self same winds that blow.
‘Tis the set of the sails,
And not the gales,
That tells us the way to go.Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate;
As we voyage along through life,
‘Tis the set of a soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm, or the strife.
— Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Are you content with the set of your sails?
